Simply Sam Organization + Design is a full service luxury interior design, custom construction, and professional organizing firm located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Simply Sam is a unique trendsetter within the home services space because we do anything and everything to provide a full service experience for our clients. From packing up a client's home, to demolition and framing, to installing furniture and buying groceries, we leave our clients with a completely finalized space and no more to do’s.

Our core team functions as a close knit group and we want someone who wants to be a part of our team for the long haul. The large misconception with this job is it is not all fun and making things pretty. We do the hard labor for our clients and do everything from painting, assembling furniture, taking trash to the dump, and in the end we get a beautiful home and a happy client!

Salary starting at $21/hour ($23/hr+ after short trial period)

Typical Schedule: Must be available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10-630pm

Work days are often 8+ hr days, and you should prepare to be able to stay the entire project even if it runs late. Must be ok with driving throughout Utah. We work in Utah, Salt Lake, Davis, and Summit Counties. We do adjust for serious weather conditions, but you should be prepared to drive in rain and snow.

General Requirements

  • Must have a knack for organizing and/or design
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from client projects
  • Must have a working smartphone- we use a lot of apps for our work flow
  • Must be a dependable person that shows up on time & responds promptly to phone calls, texts, and emails
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills on the fly
  • Enjoys working with individuals to create positive change
  • Enjoys working in a team environment
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and complete tasks within the time-frame given
  • Knowledge of high-end luxury brands for household needs, interior furnishings, and fashion is a plus

Organizing + Design Requirements

  • Makes sure home is set in a timely manner and up to Simply Sam Organization + Design standards
  • Ensures final walkthrough is done and project completed properly.
  • Ability to ensures all items necessary have been received & unpacked intact
  • Ability to measure a room accurately
  • Ability to place decorative pieces in an aesthetically pleasing manner
  • Work with clients to meet and exceed their organizing goals
  • Working hands-on with the client to help them make decisions, prioritize and purge, and then create systems of organization that will be simple for them to maintain
  • Transfer organizing skills to the client (when requested)
  • Continual organizing skill set growth by reading organizing books and magazines, window shopping for the latest and greatest in the organizing industry.
  • Knowledge of design industry is a plus but not required

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Salary: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

INTERIOR DESIGNER

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Simply Sam is seeking an interior designer who wants to be a part of a growing team long-term. We want someone who wants to take the knowledge they have and create more efficiency and can also appreciate the different approach Simply Sam takes to projects. This role will work closely with our CEO/ Principal Designer, Owner/ General Construction, and our VP: Projects. Simply Sam is currently responsible for all aspects of the design process from construction plans to final decor styling installs, and you will have a hand in all aspects of the process. This role will also help manage the design team within Simply Sam. Please note Simply Sam has a high presence on social media and this person must be comfortable in front of the camera and sharing on social media.

Job Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

  • Own interior design email
  • Work with CEO and marketing team to help produce content for various social media platforms with design in mind
  • Work with design team to help hire, train, and manage as additional design team support is needed
  • Attend internal business meetings
  • Attend internal design team meetings
  • Attend trade shows in both the design and construction industry with the Simply Sam team to make sure we are most up to date with trends, vendors, and product in the industry
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to benefit the team as a whole. This is something that Simply Sam cares deeply about. We are all there to help each other and there is a lot of crossover between various departments.
  • Simply Sam is a small team and we believe that everyone should be passionate about home organization and home remodeling that works with us. It is a requirement for most all employees to spend at least three-five days at client jobs to understand the business. We believe this is the only way to integrate into the company and have a full understanding of what we do. You may be asked to help out on client projects.

Interior Design

  • Maintain up-to date knowledge of design computer programs
  • Work to take necessary measurements throughout the client process via iPad as well as physical measurements when needed to confirm accuracy
  • Work with design and construction team to create and update construction plans for subcontractors and city approval
  • Work with design team to create mood boards, presentations, and renderings for clients Complete site visits to insure quality control of design elements are following design plans
  • Work with design team to prepare, manage, and implement design installations
  • Collaborate with engineers and builders to further understand how interior space should function, appear, and be furnished.
  • Attend client consultations, meetings, etc to learn about client projects and needs
  • Work with design subcontractors to create custom materials to complete client projects including but not limited to: custom closets, custom cabinetry, custom furniture, drapery, upholstery, finish work etc
  • Source materials for client projects with client budget, preferences, and space planning in mind
  • Create client offboarding packets using updated specifications sheet
  • Analyze movement and use patterns of the space.
  • Assist in ordering project materials and samples

Client + Project Management

  • Manage Assigned Clients using client management process
  • Perform daily project updates in Slack
  • Create comprehensive notes of project records including but not limited to photos and notes in the drive, slack, and Houzz Pro
  • Track and input all client purchases and selections on the client spec sheet in the Google Drive
  • Work with design and construction team to solve issues as they arise

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years experience in residential interior design, and past experience in residential remodeling
  • Degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Must be Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Excel, and Google Drive
  • Take on a deep sense of partnership and ownership of projects you oversee
  • Ability to work under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust deadlines as needed
  • Possess strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills with all levels of employees, management, and outside parties
  • Strong ability to work in a team setting and achieve results through collaboration and sharing
  • Ability to manage people and teams
  • Knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good communicator and confident dealing with a wide range of clients
  • Must understand how to read drawings

INTERIOR DESIGN INTERN

We are seeking and interior design intern to help assist our design team with various tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must located in Salt Lake City
  • Can be part or full time (16-40 hours per week)
  • Simply Sam is a small team and we believe that everyone should be passionate about home organization and home remodeling that works with us. It is a requirement for most all employees to spend at least three-five days at client jobs to understand the business. We believe this is the only way to integrate into the company and have a full understanding of what we do. You may be asked to help out on client projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Interior Design Intern will be responsible for space planning, communicating with clients and vendors, as well as assisting in the selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E)
  • Collaborate with Owner and Clients on concepts & other design developments
  • Pull initial mood/inspiration-imagery for new client projects
  • Scout product selections and organize via Canva, Pinterest, and Photoshop
  • Participate in various phases of design including, but not limited to: demo designation, space planning, furniture layouts, Interior Design drawings, revision of drawings, and staging and styling homes
  • Support and help Maintain client materials, correspondence, drawings, presentation sheets, budgets, samples, etc
  • Assist with project installation coordination and travel preparation for the team
  • Travel to installs and assist in staging, styling, and organization.
  • Assist with installations and photoshoots
  • Occasionally perform administrative tasks including reviewing and selecting products and ordering samples as needed
  • Create project presentation packages/sheets

Qualifications:

  • Currently obtaining a degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • Must be Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Excel, and Google Drive
